*Basically how to hang out here without being a weirdo.*

I want to help as many parents as I can live and enjoy life the way we try to do every. single. day. So like any good and decent home; this house has a few rules.

**1\. This is a community, not a courtroom.**
We come here to help each other, not to prove each other wrong or being a "better parent", etc. I am a REAL person. I am going to be sharing stories and intel I don't openly talk about with strangers. In my home, you are my guest. Treat this place as coffee at a friends. Two families can do the same thing for opposite reasons and both be right. Act like you're at someone's kitchen table, because that's what this is supposed to feel like.

**2\. Nobody's homeschool is your homeschool.**
The whole point of this place is that there is no *one right way*. Please stop trying to make there be one. If a contributor says they used Khan Academy and it changed their life, that's their story. Don't take it as a personal attack or forced recommendation. If someone says they unschool their kids and it's magic, same rule. Take what's useful. Leave the rest at the door. We don't need or want that negative shit here. There's already enough of that outside of here.

**3\. You can talk about God.**
A lot of Life Skool and homeschooled families are spiritual. A lot aren't. Both are welcome here, and we're not going to pick a side about it. Share your reasons freely, the "why" of your homeschool is your story to tell. But your reasons are not your neighbor's reasons, and forcing beliefs in the comments (of any flavor religious, secular, political) isn't the vibe. I will not hide the fact that God put homeschooling on my heart. But I will also not judge someone if they had a different experience. We are all here for the same thing. Our children and freedom to learn.

**4\. Same goes for politics.**
Homeschooling has become politicized in ways that are not our fault and not our fight. All families are welcomed here. Families who don't identify with either team and just want their kid to learn to read are especially welcome. Bring your reasons. Don't bring your team colors. Because frankly, it doesn't mean shit here.

**5\. Anonymous is fine. Cruel-anonymous isn't.**
You can post here without your real name attached: first name only, or fully anonymous, both work. That's not permission to be mean under the cover of it. If you wouldn't say it in front of your grandma, don't say it here in a fake handle.

**6\. No selling.**
If you're a small business owner whose product genuinely serves this community, awesome. I would like to have a discussion first before anything is pushed to the masses. Parents are here for clarity and advice, not another marketplace. Email me and we'll talk about the right way to be here. I don't want to see or smell "commission breath". No offense.

**7\. Kids are off-limits — including your own.**
Don't share other people's kids' names, faces, medical details, school details, or struggles without their parent's clear yes. Please be careful with your own kids' details too. What you share on the internet about a 9yro is still out there when they're 29, applying for jobs, and Googling themselves. First names are usually fine. Full names, schools, medical diagnoses, and hard behavioral stories are your kid's story to tell someday, not yours.

**8\. Struggles are welcome.**
The reason this community exists is that most homeschool spaces refuse to talk about the hard days, and we want the opposite of that. Share the doubt. Share the flops. Share the days you cried in the pantry. But we also want to be careful that "honest about the hard" doesn't tip into a competition about who has it worst. Bring the truth. Skip the performance.

**9\. If you disagree with a contributor, do it kindly or don't do it here.**
Every contributor on this site is a real parent who trusted us enough to share their story. Disagreeing with them in the comments is fair game because that's how I live. That's how a mutual conversation works. Disagreeing with them by making them feel dumb is not. There is a version of "actually, that's wrong" that a friend would say, and a version that a stranger on the internet would say. Be the friend.

**10\. When you don't know what to say, say that.**
"I don't know how to help but I read this and I'm thinking about you" is a complete comment. You don't have to have advice. Sometimes the most useful thing you can do is show up. I am not one to guarantee I will have all the answers, but I will give my honest feedback and opinion.

**11\. Break ups.**
I really don't want to moderate. Please help me not have to. If you see something that's off, hit reply on any newsletter and let me know quietly, no drama. I'll handle it. If you become more of a negative burden over an asset, you can't sit with us.

This is a real place for real families. If you're here to learn, to share, to feel less alone, or to help someone who feels alone: you're already home. If you're here to sell something, prove something, or win something: you'll be happier somewhere else.

Because life is kool when you get to live while you learn. Not when you get to argue with strangers about the right way to do it.
